State Requirements

 

The State of Wisconsin has a graduated licensing program.

-All students under the age of 18 are required to complete 30 hours of classroom instruction, to complete 6 hours of driving, and to complete 6 hours of observation prior to taking a Road Test for their Probationary License.

-Students are able to sign up and start the Tiger Driving School online class when they reach the age of 14 and 6 months.

-Students are required to be 15 years of age before they can obtain their temps and begin driving. MR. NENNIG WILL PROVIDE A MV3001 required to obtain temps at DMV along with student successfully completing testing for temps at DMV.

-Students are required to have their temps a minimum of 6 months, have completed both classroom and behind the wheel, and be age 16 before they can obtain their probationary license by successfully passing a Road Test or meeting DOT requirements to do a waiver (see link on Program Information page).

-Students are required to drive 6 hours and observe 6 hours with a State approved Driving School. Students are now required to drive 50 hours, 10 at night, prior to receiving their probationary license. Parents will be asked to verify that this requirement is met prior to student receiving probationary license. How Behind the Wheel (B-T-W) works

Scheduling: flexible hours including after school and weekends

 

Behind the wheel is available within 20 miles of Howards Grove. Home pickup and drop off available for Howards Grove School District students. Students outside the District are welcome to sign up, with the expectation we would meet at one of the following locations. Pickup/drop off locations for students outside the district would include Klemme’s Wagon Wheel in Howards Grove, Howards Grove High School, Kohls in Sheboygan, Kwik Trip -Sheboygan Northside by Texas Roadhouse, Mobil Station next to Woodlake in Kohler, and McDonalds in Sheboygan Falls, or mutually agreed location. If located close to Howards Grove pickup and drop off at home may still work out. Please call if you have questions.
